Building a Secure Future: a new industrial policy
The ‘Building a Secure Future: a new industrial policy’ debate took place on January 10th 2013.
The panel of speakers comprised Conservative peer Lord Michael Heseltine and Labour peer Lord Andrew Adonis (both pictured), corporate director Andrew Churchill and the TUC’s Frances O’Grady.
The debate considered the need for an active industrial policy, discussed what we could learn from more successful economies and the practical measures Governments could take now and in the medium term to support key sectors for future sustainable growth.
The TUC welcomed the marked agreement panel on the need for a bold, radical approach if the UK is to achieve a rebalanced economy, meet our carbon reduction targets and provide good, skilled jobs in the regions that need them most.
The event was chaired by Peggy Hollinger, Leader Writer at the Financial Times newspaper.
